Service Credit Union named

2014 Air Force Credit Union of the Year
PORTSMOUTH, N.H. (August 20, 2015) — Service Credit Union was selected for the 2014 Air Force Distinguished  Credit Union of the Year Award by the United States Air Force in recognition of its exceptional financial service and support of the Air Force community in Ramstein, Germany.

The Ramstein Air Force Base branch delivered above and beyond routine financial service offerings for the Air Force men and women and their families in that community.

In a recommendation letter from the U.S. Air Force Brigadier General Patrick Mordente states “Service Credit Union stands outs as the leader in crucial financial need areas such as combating predatory lending, community financial education, 24/7 worldwide access and a full range of high quality, low-cost financial solutions for our Airmen. Their unrivaled ability to support service members worldwide through multiple remote access channels enhances individual and unit readiness as well as insuring financial soundness of Airmen’s families here in Germany. Ultimately their ‘Service’ helps our troops focus on the important mission at hand.”

Service Credit Union’s wide range of products and services designed especially for the military was one of the many reasons for this prestigious honor. Among these products and services are Early Payday Checking, Guaranteed Pay, Military Community Emergency Loans, Relocation Loans, Early Payday Loans, Warrior Program and Star Program.  The credit union was praised for its many free services to the military including 24/7 Live Person Contact Centers, Free Online Banking, Mobile Web Banking, FinanceWorks and Mobile Apps, so soldiers can access their accounts from anywhere in the world. Service Credit Union also offers International Bill Pay so members can pay bills in foreign currencies from wherever they may be around the world. This unique capability is an exclusive Service Credit Union service and a huge benefit to its mobile military community.

“Service Credit Union takes pride in its important role to our military by providing a full range of low-cost, quality financial products and services for our men and women in uniform and their families,” says Gordon Simmons, President/CEO of Service Credit Union. “Military members and their families may face unique challenges, financial and otherwise and their credit union participates in many initiatives each year to help benefit them.”

The 2014 Air Force Distinguished Credit Union of the Year Award was presented to Service Credit Union at the Defense Credit Union Council annual conference this August in Las Vegas.

“We are humbled to receive this prestigious award. It would not have been possible without the unwavering support of our loyal membership and the hard work and dedication of our capable staff,” said Simmons.

Service Credit Union is a full service financial institution with more than 210,000 members worldwide, offering a wide range of financial products to its members.  With 49 branches including two staffed 24/7 contact centers, and full internet banking services, Service Credit Union serves all branches of the U.S. Military, Veterans and Department of Defense including their families and anyone who lives or works in New Hampshire, 4 towns in Cape Cod, MA. With a rich history beginning with its founding in 1923, by conductor and educator Elmer “Pop” Wilson, Symphony NH is the oldest professional orchestra in New Hampshire. Symphony NH, formerly known as Nashua Symphony Orchestra, was joined by Music Director and Principal Conductor Jonathan McPhee in 2008. Since that time, the orchestra has soared to new artistic heights, continually pushing the envelope with challenging programming and repertoire.

Symphony NH’s season opening concert at Lebanon Opera House salutes a trio of American composers, and will feature: Copland’s Rodeo, Bernstein’s Three Dance Episodes from On the Town and Gershwin’s effervescent Concerto in F. Along with conductor Jonathan McPhee, the concert will also feature the sensational piano soloist, Randall Hodgkinson.

Randall Hodgkinson is the Grand Prize Winner of the International American Music Competition sponsored by Carnegie Hall and the Rockefeller Foundation.  He’s performed with orchestras in Atlanta, Philadelphia, Buffalo, Boston, Cleveland and abroad in Italy and Iceland. In addition, he has performed numerous recital programs spanning the repertoire from J.S. Bach to Donald Martino. He is an artist member of the Boston Chamber Music Society, and he performs the four-hand and two-piano repertoire with his wife Leslie Amper.

Symphony NH’s concert will benefit the Good Neighbor Health Clinic, which was established in 1992 and is located in White River Junction, Vermont. Last year, The Good Neighbor Health Clinic provided a total of 3,000 free medical and dental visits to low-income residents of the Upper Valley. Care provided by the clinic is delivered by physician volunteers and students from the Geisel School of Medicine and Harvard and Boston University Schools of Dental Medicine. Nurses, dental hygienists, and community members in other roles come together as “clinic teams” to provide medical and dental care. Additionally, the Good Neighbor Health Clinic’s Red Logan Dental Clinic provided $600,000 worth of free services to those in need last year.
